Transmission oils come in different viscosities. Each different design of transmission requires its specific thickness and grade of oil set by the manufacturer. Transmission oil is designed to assist in a smooth gear change, reducing operational noise, lubrication and cooling fast moving and high pressure gears and bearings, provides resistance to oxidation, contains anti-wear and anti-corrosion properties. ITS autos include replacing your transmission related oils as part of their Inclusive servicing option. (Automatic Transmission Fluid has an additional labour charge)

Any transmission fluid service recommendations for other service style options will be advised on the VIR for your consideration. Transmission oil change intervals are not as frequent as other oils due to being enclosed in a sealed unit. The main reason for drain, flush and replacing the oil is due to the oils heat extracting and lubricating properties deteriorate over time. Small particles of metallic swarf mix in with the oil as the gears mesh together, an excessive build up will cause premature wear.

Hybrid Transaxle / CVT-Gearbox Oil – Inspect or Replace

Hybrid vehicles have an extremely intelligent transaxle system; this is where a lot of the magic happens. An insufficient or excessive amount of hybrid transaxle fluid may damage the hybrid vehicle transaxle. This is the case for all transaxle system on all modern vehicles.

ITS autos recommend regular inspections and periodic changes of the vehicles transaxle oil. ITS autos check for fluid leaks and ensure that the fluid level is between 0 to 10 mm from the bottom lip of the filler plug opening. If the fluid level is not within the specified range we top it up.

ITS autos periodically replace the Hybrid transaxle fluid as part of the Inclusive servicing schedule. We recommend replacing the hybrid transaxle fluid at periodic schedules depending on the model and driving style, we will advise you on when and why.

Anti-Freeze / Engine Coolant

The Engines Coolant Fluid or Anti-Freeze as it is also know has multiple purposes.

Engine Cooling, the coolant fluid contains limited but long life span properties that travel around the engines coolant zones while extracting heat away caused by friction from the mechanical functions of the engine parts.

Engine Lubrication is achieved by the coolant flowing around the moving parts of the engine water pump assisting this and any other metallic parts from rusting and corroding.

Non-Freezing of the Engine Coolant, also known as anti-freeze the engine coolant again contains limited but long life span properties within it that stop the fluid from freezing in cold conditions. If this fluid was to freeze it would then expand and could cause extensive engine damage. The freezing point of the anti-freeze is checked on every service or Winter Check.

ITS autos check the Engine coolant level and condition and will recommend to you when and why it is due for replacement. ITS autos periodically replace Engine Coolant Fluid as part of the Inclusive servicing schedule. We recommend replacing the Engine Coolant Fluid at periodic schedules depending on the model and age and mileage of your vehicle, we will advise you on when and why.

ITS autos use a Super Long Life Coolant high quality ethylene glycol based non-amine, non-silicate, non-nitrite, non-borate coolant containing long-life hybrid organic acid technology.  ITS autos use coolant with long-life hybrid organic acid technology; it is a combination of low phosphates and organic acids. On average vehicles hold between 6 – 7 liters but this is model dependant. Do not top up with water or substitute coolant / anti-freeze for plain water.
